Aklan 2nd District Rep. Teodorico Haresco Jr. lauded and thanked Vice President Sara Duterte for gracing the 2023 Aklan Top Outstanding Mentors (ATOM) awards and inspiring teachers at the Capitol’s Augusto B. Legaspi Memorial Sports and Cultural Complex last January 21.

“We are deeply grateful to Vice President Sara Duterte and her notable efforts to empower our teachers and the education sector. Her commitment to quality and accessible education coupled with her love for our teachers and learners are unparalleled,” Rep. Haresco said.

In her public address, Vice President Duterte reiterated her vision as Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary to focus on teachers’ benefits, the growth of learners, and the rehabilitation and reconstruction of school infrastructure.

VP Duterte also shared that her life changed because of a teacher who believed in her and became her mentor. She then urged teachers to be “mentors” to guide the youth and change their lives for the better, the same way her mentor has guided and inspired her.

“Our dear teachers and mentors, you hold the key to our children’s future, and I honor each and every one of you for your zeal, commitment, and contributions to your community even beyond the call of duty,” Duterte said in her speech as ATOM guest of honor.

The ATOM was established in 2014 by Rep. Haresco, in honor of his mother, the late lawyer and teacher Razon Haresco, to recognize outstanding the contributions and sacrifices of our noble educators.

The Awardees of this year’s ATOM incude: Master Teacher I Ruel Mia II of Rosal Elementary School; SHS Teacher Grichelle Pelayo of Solido National High School; Jennyfel Dinglasan of Lezo Integrated School; Master Teacher II Hazel Joy Rabe of Kalibo Elementary School; Master Teacher I Eva Berlandino of Makato Integrated School; Master Teacher I Frediecel Beltran of Balete Integrated School; Teacher III Arnie Ventura of Kalibo Pilot Elementary School; Master Teacher I Ruthelyn Yap of Regional Science High School for Region VI; Master Teacher II Rose Ann Delima of Kalibo Elementary School; and Master Teacher I Christina Iradiel of Kalibo Elementary School.

Each of the awardees this year were given a total of P45,000 and a plaque, where P20,000 came from Haresco, P5,000 from Kalibo Mayor Juris Sucro, and P20,000 from Duterte, who announced her additional contribution at the end of her speech.
