Mayor Revilla: Bacoor has zero tolerance for fraudulent activities
Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla yesterday expressed dismay at two police officers and a member of the local traffic bureau after their arrest in an operation conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) while reportedly collecting protection money from members of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) in the city.
“During my first term as mayor of Bacoor, and later as congressman, then mayor again today, my administration’s policy is always ‘zero tolerance’ to any fraudulent activities in the city, and anyone caught in violation of the law would be dealt with accordingly,” Mayor Revilla, who was still attending yesterday the 78th United Nations (UN) General Assembly abroad, said in a statement.
Mayor Revilla assured the people of Bacoor that under his watch, he would not allow any individual to tarnish the good image of the city through their illegal activities nor condone any kotong cop to stay longer in his post.
The mayor was reacting to the apprehension of two local police officers and a member of the city’s Traffic Management Bureau by the operatives of the CIDG on complaints by officers and members of the city’s TODA that the suspects are collecting protection money from them and those who would not cooperate on their illegal activities are threatened that they would be apprehended when plying the city streets.
Mayor Revilla immediately ordered an investigation into the case and ordered the city administrator to spearhead the filing of the necessary charges on individuals connected to the alleged illegal activities by some local police scalawags in cahoots with corrupt traffic officers and enforcers.
“I would like to personally convey my gratitude to our dedicated police officers who always stood by their sworn duty to serve and protect the residents and fight the lawbreakers, including their own. To my constituents, my office is always open for you. Together, we will confront any illegal activities in our city, ” the mayor said.
Despite the controversy, officers and members of TODA in Bacoor remained steadfast to the leadership of Mayor Revilla, believing in the integrity of his management and his vision for more developments in Bacoor.
